November 14: The destination for the BIA Study Trip 2012 has been chosen and the association has now started planning the trip to India. Our main focus will be on Mumbai since many international companies specializing in consultancy & business intelligence have their Indian headquarters in the big city (21 million people). Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment capital of India and is one of the world’s top 10 centres of commerce in terms of global financial flow. On the meeting, the programme was briefly discussed and our preliminary programme will include Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra (Taj Mahal).
Preliminary Programme:
25/3-30/3: Mumbai
30/3-4/4: Golden Triangle trip (Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Delhi)
5/5: Delhi – Mumbai – Copenhagen
The study trip group will work on getting the relevant company visits arranged – more information on this is coming asap. All participants of the trips agreed on today’s meeting that the study trip group should work on getting arrangements with different types of companies (programming, BI solutions, consultancy, strategy…) in order to reflect our diverse interests.
Why India:
India is one of the world’s biggest countries with an average growth of more than 7 % per year. India offers many possibilities as destination for a business intelligence study trip. India has a large pool of computer literate and English speaking professionals, is well recognized for its information technology skills and is a fast-growing BRIK country. India exports software to more than 95 countries and many international companies have support departments in India serving the whole world.
India has a total population of around 1.1 billion people and an amazing culture and history which make it even more interesting to go there. BIA will be producing an introductory brochure about the country and relevant cities before going there in order to underline our genuine and serious interest in the country. We hope to get sponsorships to cover some of the expenses related to the trip, and these will be offered a company page on this homepage as well as an ad in our brochure. Even though costs of living in India are relative small compared to India, we have high expenses related to flight tickets and hotels, and we therefore hope for sponsorships and grants ?
